Volunteer with Us!
Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition volunteers are very special people whose donation of time and talents has an enormous impact on the health and well-being of our watershed and our communities. Volunteers are essential for supporting our ongoing efforts to monitor and protect the health of our water resources. If you are interested in getting involved in any of our research, education, outreach, or advocacy efforts let us know by filling out our volunteer interest form or contacting us.
You can join the Pomperaug Watershed team and make a difference!
How You Can Get Involved:
Stream Monitoring
Work with PRWC staff to document in-stream conditions, sample river bugs, or test for contamination in our local streams. No experience necessary!
Restoration and Stewardship
Join PRWC's on-the-ground conservation efforts to protect and restore instream habitats and streambanks along multiple stretches of river with projects such as rain garden and riparian buffer plantings and maintenance.
Invasive Species Removal
Help protect your local waterways by assisting PRWC in removing European Water Chestnut, an invasive aquatic plant that is threatening native species and water quality in our watershed.
If you are a college student pursuing an environmental career, consider applying for an internship at PRWC. Interns engage in activities that support our work to protect water resources through research, education, and advocacy.
Event Planning
We host a number of fundraising events year-round. If you enjoy working with others on event planning and management, we can use your skills!
Community Outreach
Maximize PRWC's presence in the community by representing the organization at events, distributing event flyers and other printed materials, and spreading the word about PRWC's work to your family, friends, and neighbors.
